Since the launch of the 4060ti 16GB on the 18th July 2023, audiences have had mixed opinions. With a graphics card generation as powerful as this, people were expecting higher VRAM than an 8GB card in order to keep up with modern titles at higher graphics settings. The launch of the 16GB card addresses this, however it's a full $100 more expensive than the already inflated price of the 8GB version. As a result, there are now rumours that AIB partners aren't jumping at the opportunity to manufacture and promote these cards, recognising that the price isn't reflective of the product. To make matters worse, it's being rumoured that NVIDIA themselves won't be producing a founders edition of this card, therefore relying on the partners to do all the heavy lifting.
It seems as if card manufacturers can't let go of the opportunity that the dark ages of crypto mining offered them. If the demand's there then why not jack up the price? At least we have a lower performance card that will be able to keep up with memory capacity demands. 8GB is likely slowly on its way out and essentially this'll provide us with a bit more future proofing. Further in the future the price might start to reflect the product so it's good news for any purchasers that don't mind lagging behind the newest generation.
